LAUGHTER F O U N D ME
in the morning when I could not wake up
at night when they were trying their best to keep me awake
I was lost among the wolves prowling round on Main street
I did what came naturally, I prayed
praying for the rain to come and repent so God could save me
I waited for those trumpets to sound
for a chance to dance like wild beasts on his gilded streets
when I remembered the lost dreams
of us pounding eachothers flesh
ripping out heartbeats with laser beams
you lit the way with your smiles and intuition
no more yesterdays
no more big bad wolves
I would stop time to watch you walk out of my dreams
from ear to ear was your smile, it was a relief
I was not what you rememebered me to be
and you were nothing what I seemed, thankfully I see it
I could not say a word about you
because we are long gone, living carefree
unbelievably, here I still thinking highly of you for walking away
watching you repeat those same mistakes, a smirk grows for me
it says I got away when you slammed the door shut, hallelujah
a savior met me out in the country side
held my hand, rescued me
I could survive a life without you
with my fist in the air, playing my daddy’s rock and roll as loud as I can
I know I aint the only one with a smile
disguising a twinkle in my eyes, I admit to this room
we had some fun way back when
time most certainly heals wounds
and
finding laughter in all of it was the best medicine
thank you
xx
